Under the direction of a licensed provider (BHMP), the Lead Medical Assistant performs all duties of the Medical Assistant while functioning as the resource person to other non-licensed staff. This position acts as a working Lead for the day-to-day operations of the designated clinic. The Lead is a liaison between management and staff and keeps the leadership team apprised of early personnel issues. The daily duties of this position include but are not limited to direction of workflow and patient care under a licensed health care provider. The position drives communication between clinical staff to ensure safety, quality, and overall process compliance. The Lead Medical Assistant administratively reports to the campus Program Director and clinically to the Chief Psychiatrist. - Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program.
- Medical Certification preferred.
- At least three years of medical assistant job experience required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Must have a fingerprint clearance card issued by the AZ Department of Public Safety or eligible to receive one within eight (8) weeks of hire
JOB SUMMARY (Including, but not limited to)
- Provides floor leadership to assigned clinic(s).
- Leads and facilitates daily MA huddles for effective and efficient clinical and service operations.
- Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to appointment and schedule management, daily staffing/coverage assignments, and compliance monitoring to ensure appropriate standards.
- Communicates effectively to coworkers, members, and families (where appropriate), while also demonstrating a positive, caring attitude.
- Initiates first-line service recovery when appropriate.
- Continually monitors staff competency and scope of practice and reports observed concerns to clinical or operational leadership as appropriate.
- Performs quality audits as directed.
- Serves as a resource to ensure proper onboarding and training of staff.
- Specific duties include but are not limited to preceptor course completion, peer leadership training, service excellence & patient flow expectations, and use of tools for reporting (no-show, health information system, and occurrence reporting).
