About the role

Company Description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

To solve this problem, we expanded into software and built integrated solutions to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

Job Description

You will:

  • Develop scalable, repeatable processes: Identify broken processes and work with cross-functional teams to create solutions, including mapping user journeys, defining new workflows, and implementing new tools.
  • Lead critical cross-functional projects: Work directly with the GM of our business unit to run the most complex and critical cross-functional programs, articulating the problem, options for resolving, and then running the program to completion.
  • Build targets and monitor success: Define metrics and targets that will determine the success of new programs. Surface data-based insights through dashboards, automated reporting, and presentations that give our internal stakeholders information on the efficacy of new programs and processes.
  • Prioritize initiatives for annual plan: Contribute to annual plan by being the primary voice for new processes that the SMB segment needs to implement. Help size the impact of initiatives and prioritize the most important processes for both annual plan and quarterly strategy refreshes.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of strategy and business operations experience, preferably in management consulting or a fast-moving technology company.

  • A strong grasp of processes and workflows. You excel at setting up frameworks, gaining buy-in on those frameworks, and implementing process changes across an organization.
  • Distinctive problem-solving, strategic and analytical capabilities, and experience building trusted relationships with executive stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate, present, and craft compelling narratives to influence internal and external technical and business stakeholders across diverse teams at all levels.
  • Deep comfort operating in the ambiguity of an ever-evolving product that operates at scale globally.
  • Ability to work independently and drive strategic projects from ideation to execution in a highly matrixed global organization.
  • BS/BA required; MBA or Masters degree a plus
