Position Summary
The Lead Director of Front Store Innovation & Execution has the unique opportunity to serve as business lead on in-store experience transformation workstreams that will drive forward our Front Store colleague workflow experiences, ultimately drive sales and profitability. This work requires an extensive background managing the delivery of IT work and launching enhancements to field and store teams. Using a strong strategic mindset, successful candidates will have a bias for action and customer centricity that is unmatched by their peers. At the same time, this talent developer will ensure their teams support and successfully execute front store strategic initiatives – partnering across the enterprise to deliver Front Store revenue of approximately $22B annually.
Responsibilities:
Delivers Results
- Leverages a results-oriented mindset to assign appropriate timelines and accountabilities for initiatives, projects and deliverables. Empowers the team to drive action steps to bring to completion.
- “Inspects What They Expect” – routinely inspects and monitors key processes and functions; institutes improvement measures as needed; holds team accountable to KPIs and deliverables.
- Optimizes and level sets expectations with stakeholders by partnering closely with Field Leadership, Store Operations, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Business Compliance Office, and IT to ensure appropriate levels of support and collaboration.
- Work cross-functionally with CSC partners to develop strategies and action plans to mitigate identified risks and opportunities tailored to the specific needs of each operating Division.
- Optimizes use of data to support field execution of key programs and processes; ensures field feedback is incorporated by team into dashboards and reporting to improve utilization and effectiveness
- Actively manages team resources to ensure OpEx, CapEx and IT Labor Hrs spend is within fiscal year budget; recommends and advocates for budget for upcoming fiscal year to support the strategic plan and agenda for the team
Strategic Planning
- Develops and executes a comprehensive short and long-term strategies to meet the business objectives of the team.
- Routinely engaged with peers and senior leaders (VP, SVP) across stakeholder groups in thought partnership on policy development and strategy assessments, re-directing as necessary to meet dynamically changing retail environment.
- Leads and participates in meetings/calls with corporate partners and retail Senior Leaders to support overall agendas and governance strategies.
- Champions innovation by bringing ideas to own ED & VP as well as the broader retail team in an agile way, while balancing growth against financial risk and incremental cost to the organization.
- Maintains three-year roadmap for Front Store workflow investments to support overall agenda and business needs.
Drives Innovation
- Continuously looks for opportunities to drive efficiency and productivity across the team; partners with Merchandising, Inventory, IT and A&BC to identify and recommend implementation of new technologies or processes to achieve this.
- Coaches and empowers team to identify new pathways to create simplicity for store teams and field leaders to execute key sales activities.
- Fully embraces organizational improvement initiatives, acting as a change agent with one’s own team and peers.
- Provides both constructive and positive feedback on new initiatives to appropriate teams. Look for ways to break through implementation barriers rather than be impeded by them.
Talent Development:
- Develops the capabilities of direct reports to take on progressively higher levels of responsibility while also establishing and maintaining governance processes that ensure store and field leaders, by position, have the communication and tools they need to deliver effectively.
