Key Accountabilities
We are looking for our next Senior Engineering CAPEX Manager, within our US Engineering Team, to assist and advise our internal client (GBU Manufacturing plants) in the expression of their needs and translation into industrial applications for the food and pharma process industry. This position will be located in Keokuk (IA) or Gurnee in Chicago Area (IL)
The person will be responsible for several CAPEX industrial projects (5 – 50 Millions $), from the initial stages (pre-study, detailed and engaging preliminary project) to final installation and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, in liaison with the client, the engineering needs.
- Define, in liaison with the relevant hierarchies, the project organization to be implemented.
- Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project.
- Based on production process and user’s requirements, work out different technical proposals.
- Prepare estimated budget for approval.
- Lead technical interface with vendors and contractors for quotations on equipment, civil construction and field installations processing the SAP Purchase Requisitions, working collaboratively with Purchasing to negotiate vendor and contractor purchase agreements.
- Prepare project implementation plan, time schedule, follow up implementation work and ensure safety, quality and progress of the work.
- Organize and arrange the project works with the all staff, discuss and solve the problems showing up during implementation, provide necessary guidance and support.
- Apply seasoned working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements to field installation and equipment/systems design.
- Oversee and provide technical leadership for ad hoc project teams of drafting contractors, technicians, engineers and other to contribute to project completions.
- Guide, project team members on assignments involving AutoCAD, SAP, Connections, Outlook, etc.
- Communicate and interface well with other engineers, department and interdepartmental project team members with improvement suggestions to resolve complex issues (problem solving skills) and develop/innovate designs (problem solving and prevention skills).
- Execute the project according to the project plan.
- Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project.
- Provide information on the progress of the project to the customer and project core team
Key Competency Requirements
- Mechanical systems
- Contractor/contract administration and field construction/project activity oversight
- Process systems operations and equipment specifications, materials of construction, assembly, piping design
- Understand computer systems such as AutoCAD, SmartSketch, Microsoft Office Suite, SAP
- Capital project management and related systems
- Capital project team leadership. Effective organizational, planning and multi-tasking skills. Project development skills.
- Ability to utilize root cause analysis to determine direct and fundamental causes of a complex failure and appropriate controlling, corrective, and preventive actions. Demonstrated effective and logical systematic technical complex troubleshooting and problem solving skills personally and leading teams.
- Clear, informative and persuasive verbal, written and presentation communication skills, including ability to create and deliver, through teams, training to others on technical matters. Strong computer skills in Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word, Aspen, and SAP.
- Demonstrated seasoned knowledge of safe work practices and safe construction practices
Qualifications/Requirements
Education:
- Bachelors of Science in an Engineering Discipline
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience within an engineering company or engineering department in an industrial company.
- Experience in management of capital projects for chemical or process industry with some projects above $30 million dollars.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position does not directly manage employees.
