Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire an Office Coordinator for the Office of Land Management at Moraine View State Recreation Area. This position will provide specialized office support functions, have experience as a timekeeper, have the ability to balance accounts, utilize organizational skills and use the computer to prepare a variety of documents, databases and spreadsheets. The Moraine View State Recreation Area has fully developed facilities for picnicking, camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, boating, horseback riding and hunting, the 1,687-acre Moraine View State Recreation Area, with its 158-acre lake, is a beautiful, convenient and accessible locale for relaxation and recreation. We welcome interested applicants who would like to be part of this team to apply today.

Essential Functions

  • Under direction, provides complex, specialized office support functions for the Site Superintendent at Moraine View State Recreation Area, all satellite sites and other sites as assigned by the Regional Land Manager:
  • Assists with maintaining the operational budget, contractor bids, Plans of Work, equipment requests, and inventory records.
  • Develops complex correspondence and memos from written and dictated instruction including safety issues, questionnaires, department information and numerous detailed information requests from visitors and other agencies:
  • Serves as timekeeper for Moraine View, and other sites as requested by Regional Land Manager.
  • Maintains records of repairs and fuel usage for vehicles.
  •  Develops complex, multiprogram databases, spreadsheets, forms, and applications for fast and efficient completion of routine reports:
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two years of related office experience or two years of independent business experience.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of extensive knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • One (1) year of working knowledge of the logic of computer programs.
  • One (1) year of experience having the ability to follow oral or written instructions.
  • One (1) year of extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
