The J7-3 Cardiology Stepdown Unit specializes in medical support for populations managing conditions like myocardial infractions, chronic heart failure, dysrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension and others. As an RN Resident on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.
A caregiver in this position works rotating days/nights from 7:00AM – 7:30PM or 7:00PM – 7:30AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
Document in patients’ medical records.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Certification upon or within first year of hire
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
