The Software Engineering team is hiring for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering.

Please note: The candidate selected will need to be able to travel to Chicago up to once per month.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Technical Manager with a strong background in hands-on software engineering and expertise in clearing, business, and capital markets. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to lead and mentor a team of 6-8 engineers, driving technical excellence and delivering high-quality software solutions. Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership:

  • Lead a team of software engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.

  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of Java/Spring Boot applications.

  • Ensure adherence to industry best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles.

  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes and tools.

  • Knowledgeable with SDLC process.

• Hands-On Development:

  • Contribute actively to coding tasks, leveraging your expertise in full stack development with Java, Spring Boot, and related technologies in the backend and React, parcel, Redux or similar technologies in the front-end side.

  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance applications using Docker containers and Kubernetes orchestration.

  • Work with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks and PostgreSQL databases.

  • Should be familiar with source control tooling with git and should have working knowledge with git branches.

  • Familiar with basic database design, SQL and PostGres SQL.

  • Familiarity of orchestration and workflow tools like Camunda, Apache Airflow is a plus.

• Project Management:

  • Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Manage project resources effectively, ensuring timely completion of milestones.

  • Communicate project status regularly to stakeholders, highlighting risks and mitigation strategies.

• Domain Expertise:

  • Apply your knowledge of clearing, business, and capital markets to guide technical decisions and ensure alignment with business goals.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation.

  • Support clearing ops team and the engineering team with any operational issues with the system

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience:

  • 10+ years of hands-on software development experience using Java and Spring Boot.

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, managing software engineering teams.

  • Proven track record of delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ORM frameworks, and PostgreSQL databases.

  • Strong understanding of clearing, business, and capital markets.
