Job Description: Shield AI is looking for a Program Manager to lead a Department of Defense (DoD) technical development program focused on delivering transformative unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems. In this role, you will drive customer-funded research and development, managing the execution of hardware and software solutions that meet mission-critical requirements.
You will lead a cross-functional team, ensuring alignment across engineering, operations, and customer stakeholders to successfully deliver innovative capabilities. What you'll do:

  • Drive exceptional program execution, ensuring mission success through flawless program management.
  • Lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration to deliver early, under budget, and with superior technical performance.
  • Serve as the primary customer interface, managing relationships and ensuring program alignment with stakeholder objectives.
  • Navigate shifting priorities, balancing cost, schedule, and technical requirements while proactively mitigating risks.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, ensuring smooth execution of all program aspects.
  • Track and report budget, resource allocation, and key project metrics with precision and accuracy.
  • Conduct critical path analysis, identifying acceleration opportunities and bottlenecks to keep projects on schedule.
  • Collaborate with leadership to prioritize initiatives and optimize resource utilization.
  • Establish and lead a structured, results-driven cadence of effective program meetings, ensuring preparation and follow-up execution.
  • Foster an environment of accountability and excellence in program execution.
  • Report directly to Shield AI’s Director of DoD/FMS Programs.

Required qualifications:

  • B.S. in a STEM field (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related).
  • 8+ years of proven Program Management experience within Department of Defense programs.
  • Deep expertise in project and program management, with a track record of delivering complex, high-stakes programs.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed.
  • Strong strategic mindset with a focus on long-term business objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience leading interrelated projects with minimal oversight.
  • Proficiency with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional leadership, time management, organization, and team management skills.
  • Expert-level understanding of complex project financials.
  • You have a demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
  • Experience managing integrated software and hardware R&D programs.
  • Familiarity with AI and Machine Learning applications.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics.
