About the role

This is a remote position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Operations & Compliance
  • Process payroll and ensure timely payments.
  • Manage and settle superannuation contributions and compliance.
  • Pay ATO liabilities and ensure tax obligations are met on time.
  • Approve incoming bills and oversee proper categorization and payment. Receivables & Invoicing
  • Monitor accounts receivable and coordinate with the booking/corporates admin team to follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Remind the team to chase unpaid invoices promptly.
  • Ensure that invoices and payments are tagged properly. Expense Monitoring & Financial Oversight
  • Track organizational spending, flag and investigate unusual transactions, and ensure budget adherence.
  • Monitor and ensure timely payment of the Visa card and other recurring liabilities.
  • Maintain visibility over cash flow and working capital needs.
  • Bookkeeping Support & Coordination
  • Provide bank and transaction statements to bookkeepers.
  • Respond to bookkeeper inquiries to support accurate records and reconciliations.
  • Ensure that bookkeepers reconcile accounts accurately and report on time. Reporting & Communication
  • Prepare and deliver regular financial reports for the Board of Directors.
  • Provide necessary documentation and respond to auditor queries during audits.
  • Ensure financial transparency and help guide strategic financial decisions.

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Chartered Accountant or CPA qualification, with post-graduate qualifications highly regarded
  • 5 years plus experience as a CFO or in a senior financial position, ideally within a non-profit or community-based organization
  • Strong knowledge of Australian financial regulations, including ATO obligations and superannuation systems, along with highly developed financial and management accounting skills to meet the responsibilities of a senior officer under ASIC and ACNC regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to influence and facilitate policy development processes whilst reflecting the respect and team values
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills at Executive and Board level interaction ensuring clear, effective messaging across all levels
  • Proficiency in Xero and MS Excel/Google Sheet, preferably with good experience in Salesforce but not required
  • Proven track record of leading and developing teams with strong results orientation, resilience, and a positive, proactive approach to risk mitigation
  • Provide support and advice on business and financial matters to management and the board
  • Demonstrate drive and ability to improve budgets, reporting, forecasting, internal controls and prepare statutory financial and taxation statements
  • Well-developed ethical standards and high personal integrity, with a focus on always acting in the best interest of the organization and its members
  • Proactive commitment to the values and mission of our kitchen and the broader community we serve
  • Disciplined, accountable, reliable, and able to meet target dates in a remote setting
