**THIS IS A CONTRACTED, NON-BENEFIT POSITION**

We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Medical Consultant to join our dynamic team. MassAbility, Disability Determination Services has openings for Massachusetts board certified Internists, Family Practitioners, Emergency Medicine, Doctors of Osteopathy, Physiatrists, Neurologists, Orthopedists, Psychiatrists and Massachusetts licensed Psychologists and Speech and Language Pathologists to provide in-house medical consultation for the Everett Office.

These consultants will work with the Agency’s vocational disability examiners to determine the eligibility of Social Security disability claimants. Claimant eligibility for these federal programs is evaluated to determine the presence or absence of medical disabilities which significantly impair work capacity according to legally mandated definitions and standards.

Training and support will be provided by the DDS Chief Consultants. Usual hours are 20 hours/week on a 4 hour/day, 5 day/week schedule. An alternate schedule may be arranged with the Regional Director; however, minimum availability must reflect a total of 15 hours/week.

 

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Must be actively licensed with the Board of Registration in Medicine or be a Massachusetts licensed Speech and Language Pathologist or Psychologist.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze data effectively.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who are experienced in the interpretation of medical documentation according to legal standards and federal requirements and familiar with the policies and procedures established by the Social Security Administration.

 

This position will have the following:

·       Benefits are unavailable with the exception of sick leave accruals.

·       All employees will be paid on a bi-weekly basis and must have direct deposit.

·       State and federal taxes will be withheld.  In addition, the contractor must participate in the Alternative Retirement Program mandated by federal law.

·       This is a contract position working 15 hours per week.
