About the role

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Princeton Road Station Operations & Maintenance Specialist located at Princeton Road Station in Hallam, Nebraska.  Position closes August 11th, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. 

 

Position Summary

The incumbent is responsible for work control, providing technical guidance, operational and maintenance expertise, project management support, and specialized reliability services to Princeton Road Station (PRS). PRS consists of generating units and auxiliary systems unique to the station. The complexity of the facility and its projected service duty will require advanced knowledge of a wide range of technologies and practices necessary to ensure the expected reliability of the facility. 

Education, Training and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, and four years of experience OR two-year associate's degree in industrial operations or maintenance discipline or related field and six years of experience OR equivalent military training and six years of experience OR high school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) and eight years of relevant work experience. 

Experience in commercial power stations or an industrial setting with demonstrated performance indicating the applicant has the skills and ability to perform the required duties of the position. Good operational knowledge of combustion turbines or reciprocating internal combustion engines is preferred. 

Licenses and/or Certifications

Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Reliability Maintenance Technician (CMRT) or ability to obtain this certification is desirable.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and be the primary owner of a specific Reliability Basis Optimization (RBO) program focused on reliability, safety, operation, risk and regulatory strategies/criteria for the site using the NPPD approved policies and procedures. Use this to develop/process preventive maintenance plans designed to ensure equipment reliability, and/or execute safety and regulatory compliance requirements. All maintenance plans should have a field walk-down to verify all information is accurate for detailed planning. Review and update this program on a regular cadence to ensure quality and accuracy. 

Direct site work control by using engineering and performance data gathered, analyzing the data and developing the appropriate maintenance plans to ensure the expected performance and reliability of site equipment to facilitate maximum unit availability, regulatory compliance and site safety.  

Develop, maintain, and be the primary owner of a long-term plan for unit outages and capital additions. Collaborate with site management to use this information for financial planning for the facility that will inform the NPPD rate outlook.  Review this plan on a regular basis with site management to ensure relevancy. Collaborate with site management to create and maintain a rolling schedule for execution of planned work and to address emergent issues. 

Create, implement and utilize a continuous improvement plan to update site maintenance plans and strategies to optimize site performance. Memorialize these plans to ensure a clear line of site to support site configuration control. 

Own the site functional location and bill of materials (BOM) processes to ensure all new and existing equipment is located within the proper equipment hierarchy, all critical and non-critical spares are identified, and the appropriate spare parts strategy is created and maintained.  

Utilize and track the refurbishment process for major equipment rotable spares. This includes but is not limited to site reciprocating internal combustion engines and combustion turbines. Use this process to drive a fleet maintenance approach for the facility and if applicable, with other NPPD and/or other non-NPPD generating facilities with like equipment. Establish a working relationship with other NPPD departments and non-NPPD generating facilities and maintain contacts to carry out this function.
