Job Description:

Position Summary:  Design and develop tool sets to optimize data integration process and overall architecture around clinical data sets.  Become a subject matter expert on integration capabilities using healthcare integration concepts with HL7, XML, REST SAOP.  Having expert level knowledge of interface engine concepts preferable using Mirth Connect.  Ability to code in JavaScript, Java, C# or a similar programing language.  The specialists will collaborate with numerous teams both internal and external.  The specialists will be responsible to extract the right data elements and ensure they map to the data points needed for our reporting and analytic platforms.  The integration specialist must have a deep understanding of healthcare data how claims and clinical data connect.  Experience with Mirth Connect, CCD, CCD-A, FIHR, XML is strongly desired.

  • Track reported issues, prioritize work using Agile methodologies.
  • Conduct root cause analysis, ensure testing is completed, and resolution is reported to the customer in a timely manner.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT  

Establishes project goals, milestones, and procedures, defines roles and responsibilities, acquires project resources, coordinates projects throughout company, monitors project progress, manages multiple projects.

  • Ability to work closely with the other data teams (DBAs, Architects, Analyst, programmers)
  • Assists in sprint planning, develop a well-defined backlog, sprint review.  Attends project management meetings and provides input and updates on timelines.

CUSTOMER FOCUS

Builds customer confidence, is committed to increasing customer satisfaction, sets achievable customer expectations, assumes responsibility for solving customer problems, ensures commitments to customers are met, solicits opinions and ideas from customers, responds to customers.

  • Troubleshoot, resolve and communicate to customers regarding issues reported and resolution.
  • Participate in client interactions regarding data quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Understands duties and responsibilities, has necessary job knowledge, has necessary technical skills, understands company mission/values, keeps job knowledge current, is in command of critical issues.

  • Interpret technical documentation requirements for HL7 interfaces and EHR systems.
  • Develop and maintain data repository, ETL, data integration and SSIS solutions
  • Leverage EHR integration methods for Smart on FHIR, CCD-A, HL7.
  • Expertise around various EHR integration methods including HL7, Private API, Public API, FHIR and XML/Document
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to EHR data integration
  • Develop CCD/CCDA/HL7 integration/extraction and data mapping to support various use cases
  • HL7 data mappings and troubleshooting of interfaces during pre and post integration (Production)
  • Build data pipelines in mirth for connecting data sources.
  • Design, develop and support data pipelines (ELT/ETL) with both Data Factory, Data Bricks and SSIS.

Qualifications (Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills): 

  • 5 or more years proven hands-on experience as a data integration specialist working with healthcare data.
  • 5 or more years’ experience in database programming and integration with MS SQL Server Data Factory, Data Bricks and SSIS.
  • A strong background in developing RESTful APIs and understanding of API design principles
  • Experience with HL7 Messaging from EHR systems and or Lab Vendors
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake storage and Azure Databricks.
  • Experience with Mirth Connect for EHR Data parsing and ingestion
  • Experience in managing integration projects, including defining project scope, timelines, and coordinating with stakeholders.
