The Fellow, Technology and System Engineering role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

The Technology Fellow is the premier achievement for a technology specialist in an individual contributor capacity at Fannie Mae. Individuals who qualify for this role will bring combined breadth and depth in several technology areas, augmented by their ability to affect positive technology change across an organization. This leader will have deep technology experience in the following areas to be successful: Infrastructure/Network Architecture, Data Architecture, and/or Application Architecture and will serve as an officer within the Enterprise Architecture division. They will influence the strategic direction and champion the firms’ technology achievements internally and externally. In addition, they will initiate Technology programs by formulating strategic goals which align with the enterprise vision, goals, and OKR's. On a recurring basis, the Fellow will assess and continuously optimize technology and systems, analyzing and utilizing industry new and best practices and suitability for Fannie Mae’s purposes. This position will report to the VP, Enterprise Architecture - SF, Cloud, Data, AI/ML & Infrastructure.

Qualifications

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Effectively ensure that technology execution is of the highest quality and that the right technologies are used for the appropriate and cost-effective ends of the company.
  • Detect, introduce, and drive the adoption of relevant new technology and emerging transformative industry trends; Drive innovation across teams; participate in technology advisory boards
  • Work with the company’s clients and partners to solve their technology issues, act as technology ambassador for the company, and better enable effective technology interoperability
  • Lead the creation and curation of technology patterns and designs related to network and infrastructure
  • Align such frameworks and patterns to strategic company vision and goals
  • Apply logical, practical and critical thinking to reshape or optimize technology, systems and architectures, increasing efficiency, and time to market, while maintaining compliance and security requirements
  • Carefully balance the needs to reliability and efficiency between cloud infrastructures
  • Work with key Architecture and Technology leaders to ensure the designs, architectures and solutions will meet or exceed the business expectations, and to promote optimization concepts
  • Serve as a beacon for technologists and system engineers
  • May lead teams executing technology re-engineering and provide quality assurance, review work products
  • Remain current with industry trends, practices, and methods

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

  • A background in technology architecture, ideally a mix of application architecture, network/infrastructure architecture, and data architecture
  • Experience working in a multi-cloud environment; a strong working knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Education Level (Required) - Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent in Technology, Computer Sciences,  or related fields; Master or Other Advanced Degree Area of Study preferred
  • An understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence
  • Preferred experience working at a complex financial services organization
  • Certifications (Preferred)
    • Systems Architecture
    • Infrastructure and Cloud
    • Systems Engineering

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Modern code languages (Python, Java, etc)
  • Infrastructure as code
  • Data concepts and Analytics
  • Cyber security concepts
  • Hybrid & multi-Cloud
