About the Role

As a Manager for Markets Operations, you will be a key leader within the Japan Markets Operations team, responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of Global Markets transactions across both ANZ's Bank and Securities entities in Japan.

Operating within a highly regulated environment, you will help ensure the business maintains a robust operating model that meets the expectations of clients, regulators and internal governance requirements. You will support the Head of Markets Operations, Japan in driving operational delivery, governance, operational risk management and strategic initiatives while ensuring the function remains efficient, resilient and scalable.

This role plays a critical part in supporting business growth, regulatory readiness and operating model enhancements across a complex dual-entity environment. You will work closely with stakeholders across Operations, Front Office, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Technology and external regulatory bodies to deliver sustainable operational outcomes.

This role will lead a team and support a culture of performance, collaboration and continuous improvement.

What will your day look like?

As Manager for Markets Operations, you will:

• Lead the day-to-day delivery of Markets Operations activities across Japan, ensuring accurate, timely and controlled processing of transactions
• Partner with business, risk, compliance and regulatory stakeholders to maintain a strong control environment and support regulatory obligations across both licensed entities
• Drive operating model enhancements, workforce optimisation and process improvements to improve efficiency, scalability and operational resilience
• Lead, coach and develop team members while building capability through training, succession planning and cross-skilling initiatives
• Strengthen risk management practices by overseeing operational controls, reconciliations, governance activities and remediation of identified issues

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Deep knowledge of Japan Markets Operations, including Japanese market practices, regulatory frameworks and operational processes
• Extensive experience with customer database systems, such as Razor, MIDANZ, etc.
• Experience with SWIFT and local payments systems  
• Strong experience leading high-performing teams within complex banking or financial services environments
• Demonstrated experience managing operational risk, governance frameworks and regulatory compliance requirements
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively across business, support functions and regulatory stakeholders
• Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English, written and verbal
