Job Title: Assistant Summer Camp Counselor

Primary Function/Department: Youth Development
Salary: $10.00-$12.50 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Assistant Summer Camp Counselor at YMCA of Natrona County maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families.
This position is responsible for helping to maintain a safe, clean summer program site; ensuring a high level of program quality and working to establish a positive relationship with all program participants and their families. The Assistant Summer Camp Counselor will provide a positive role model to youth within the philosophy of YMCA standards and expectations with an emphasis on youth development and healthy living.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Actively supervises assigned group of children.
- Participate and encourage participation of all students in daily activities and events.
- Supports Summer Camp Director in planning and implementation of program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness.
- Actively participates in department and branch staff meetings and training.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- At least 15 years of age
- Ability to attend training in May 2026
- Ability to work the entire summer, June 1 – August 21, 2026
- Previous experience working with children aged 4-12 years, preferably in a day camp setting
- Ability to supervise and play with children in a pool setting is required
- Must be willing to work outdoors
- Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
- Integrity and ability to work independently with attention to detail required
- Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause & culture training; Child Abuse Prevention Training, BLS CPR/AED/First Aid
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check
