Purpose

To support student success by providing individualized career coaching — helping students explore career pathways, prepare for employment, and develop job search skills — while also coordinating student development programs that build engagement, partnerships, and measurable outcomes across campus.

Responsibilities

  • Career Coaching: Advise fine arts students, including undergraduate students, graduate students and alumni of COFA, on career-related queries, including defining career goals; developing career plans; internship assistance; resume and cover letter critiques; conducting mock interviews and connecting student's with on and off campus resources.

  • Programming and Content:  Assist in designing, coordinating, and implementing in-house professional development opportunities for students in the form of workshops, services, events, and programs; enrich all offerings by crafting relevant promotional and educational content. Examples include resume workshops and in-classroom visits about career-specific topics. Support daily Career Services operations by maintaining resources, documenting procedures, tracking participation, and assisting in office initiatives.

  • Fostering Career Ecosystem: Build and maintain relationships with internal and community stakeholders. This includes collaboration with the College of Fine Arts staff and faculty, community leaders and creative industry professional. Must also be able to provide timely and effective communication across multiple teams and functional areas.

  • Logistical and Communication Support: Support event logistics such as scheduling, room reservation, catering and speaker coordination, registration, set-up, day-of support and follow-up. Additionally, manage communications on main career services email, triage inquires, proactively and independently research solutions. 

  • Data Tracking: Assist the Senior Career Coordinator in collecting and interpreting data about student outcomes, program attendance, and satisfaction. This includes the use of Qualtrics (survey software) and 12Twenty (career services platform for student appointments and event attendance). Assists in assembling data for the First Destinations survey, a survey of recent graduates about their employment after graduation.

  • Student Funding Committees: Serve on award committees to review applications for student funding opportunities, including the Internship Scholarship fund, and Professional Development Travel fund.

  • Student Employee Supervision: Assist with the training and supervision of student employee as needed, including assigning and monitoring the completion of tasks, and providing feedback.

  • Other Duties as Assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

  • At least 3 years of experience in career services, higher education, student affairs, recruiting, advising, event planning, communications, program / project coordination, or a related field

  • Experience planning and coordinating events, workshops, or programs

  • Demonstrated experience working with students in a higher education environment

  • Intermediate to advanced worki
