Head of Merchant Finance & Treasury

At its core, Adyen is a treasury company. We move balances on behalf of our customers. With banking licenses in Europe and in the US and acquiring licenses in more regions, our own treasury function must be excellent. Adyen is looking for a Head of Merchant Finance & Treasury that will help us to build the world's most customer-focused financial technology platform. What makes us different from a traditional treasury function is that we put our customers first in everything we do and we use our fully in-house developed platform that we continuously scale.

The Merchant Finance & Treasury team is responsible for the daily payouts, cash and FX management, global banking relationships and reconciliation. The team is fully centralised in Amsterdam and works very closely with the Development, Product, Group Finance, Account Management, Data and Support teams. Example projects that the team works on are full automation of cash & FX management, FX product strategy, implementation and scaling of (new) financial products such as capital, issuing and payouts, global expansion and operational improvements. 

What you'll do 

• Be part of Adyen’s Global Leadership team, taking a broader view of the business and its strategic direction
• Guide the Merchant Finance & Treasury Team Leads, taking an active role in recruitment
• Develop, communicate and execute a clear and inspiring vision aligned with company goals
• Help the team scale with a focus on automation so they are ready for handling future volumes 
• Have a customer focused mindset, everything we do is to benefit our customers. We optimise for customer experience and see our function as a differentiator for them
• Feel comfortable and have a genuine interest in navigating topics such as FX, cash management, payments, scalability, operations 
• Build relationships with stakeholders on different levels
• Set team goals and institute accountability, track overall team progress and success, and coach team leads to continuously develop and grow

Who you are

• A strong people leader, comfortable managing managers and acting as the voice of your team across the wider business 
• Ability to partner cross-functionally (e.g. with wider Finance, Product, Development, Data), and at all levels of the organisation 
• Experience of working with global stakeholders, ideally in an international FinTech/Tech/Payments business
• Customer driven, and focused on automating operations
• Whilst a deep expertise in treasury and transaction banking isn’t a prerequisite, a genuine interest in these and related topics is a must. 
• An ambassador for the Adyen Formula, ensuring that managers are championing these core values across the Merchant Finance & Treasury function

Please note that this role is a full-time position in Amsterdam. It will require a relocation in case you live outside of the Netherlands.
