Join FinOps Governance team that is part of the Global Cloud Services organization.
Apply your data analytics skills to the FinOps for AI domain, and collaborate with an exceptional group of cloud engineers, customer experience specialists, product managers, and data engineers. Together, we drive financial efficiency, build scalable solutions, and unlock significant value from our cloud and AI investments.
About the role:
We are seeking a talented and motivated FinOps Analyst with a solid background in data analysis and engineering to focus on our AI scope. This role is crucial to ensuring that our AI initiatives are financially optimized and aligned with strategic goals. The FinOps AI Analyst blends the principles of FinOps and data analytics with the unique requirements of AI development and deployment.
Proficiency in Python (R, or similar) and a good understanding of AI trends are essential to succeed in this role. The position also requires curiosity and a willingness to learn how AI is deployed and scaled at the enterprise level, as well as the ability to assess and communicate its financial implications.

- Track AI usage trends and analyze data to uncover inefficiencies and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Build automations to streamline cost and usage analysis, as well as forecasting.
- Turn data into actionable insights by managing and optimizing data retrieval, administration, and automation.
- Maintain accurate, centralized repositories to ensure consistent reporting and analytics.
- Support budgeting and financial planning processes for AI initiatives.
- Leverage in-house models to forecast multiple scenarios for AI project costs and benefits.
- Stay current on cloud and AI pricing models, market trends, and industry benchmarks to inform cost optimization strategies.
- Contribute to guidelines and guardrails for AI workload deployments to balance innovation with financial accountability.
- Analyze and provide recommendations on commit-based discounts (e.g., token reservations) to maximize utilization and coverage.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:
- Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
- 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with without experience in science, statistics, finance, business, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar, for data manipulation, analysis and automation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with modern AI technologies and their enterprise applications.
Nice to have:
- Experience in data modeling and working with time-series data.
- Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Background in financial analysis, preferably in the technology or AI sector.
- Previous experience in a FinOps or cloud financial management role.
- FinOps Certified Practitioner or public cloud certification.

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $158,500 - $269,500, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
