Summary 

We are looking for an experienced Product Owner with a technical background to strengthen our Database team in the CloudOS Group. The team's mission is to drive improvements to the database landscape of SAP Signavio and enabling transition to HANA Cloud technology.  

You will be working closely with the Tech Lead and will be responsible for building a roadmap, stakeholder communication and the day-to-day backlog management for your team. Key responsibilities also include understanding the bigger picture, prioritizing the needs of dev teams, implementing our tech strategy, creating focus and building understanding and excitement within the team. 
 

What You'll Do 

Your job is to make sure that the team works on what’s most important and valuable at any given time. To do that, you: 

• Distill business context, requirements, our objectives, as well expectations of internal and external customers into a clear picture. 

• Work with the team, Tech Lead, Principal Tech Lead and Head of CloudOS to create a roadmap based on our cloud strategy. 

• Align priorities and maintain a prioritized backlog across all sources of work (for example other teams’ dependencies, tech strategy…). 

• Facilitate concepts for problems that are not well defined yet. 

• Own the team’s backlog, define and write epics, stories in collaboration with engineers. 

• Translate needs and manage expectations across the team and stakeholders. 

• Create transparency on progress, risks and scope changes through our established channels and artifacts. 

• Manage for progress, help remove impediments to ensure delivery. 

• Serve as the spokesperson and ambassador of the team, and celebrate their achievements across the organization. 

• Improve disaster recovery strategies and participate in security audits. 

• Translate business requirements into tasks that focus on improving dev experience and automation.  

 

What You'll Bring 

• Hands-on experience in working as a Product Owner or Manager in an agile environment. 

• Technical background and good understanding of database or infrastructure domain (ideally AWS and/or HANA), or a technical background in related field plus the willingness to immerse yourself in a new domain. 

• Ability to lead through, connect and create progress when things aren’t clear or the way forward is not yet well-defined. 

• Communication skills that allow you to translate between different domains, adjust to different audiences and build relationships within and beyond the team. 

• A solid toolkit and methods that help you along the path from problem to a solution delivered and adopted (prioritization, concepting, slicing and aligning scope, planning and estimation etc.). 

• An eye on non-functional requirements such as security, performance, scalability, availability, cost and operations. 

• A strong user focus, with methods for discovering user needs, introducing KPIs, metrics, etc. 

• A willingness to contribute on our journey from our startup heritage to our SAP Signavio future.
