Senior Manager, Project Portfolio Management

Choice Hotels has an exciting new opportunity as our Senior Manager, Project Portfolio Management in the SkyTouch Technology division. SkyTouch Technology is an independently operated division of Choice Hotels that provides the most widely used cloud-based (SaaS) hotel property management system.

As a key member of our SkyTouch Technology division, you will lead the charge in one of our most high-velocity, high-visibility delivery functions. You'll be the go-to person keeping our Project Management Office (PMO) running smoothly.

This isn’t a role for the faint of heart. You’ll need to juggle multiple “top priorities” at once, switch contexts seamlessly, and keep the roadmap accurate in real time, all while coaching a high-performing team. You’ll partner closely with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, and Finance to balance strategy and execution at scale.

This is a key leadership position responsible for driving transparency, prioritization, and operational excellence in how we plan, execute, and measure delivery. We’re not just looking for an operator but rather a forward-thinking innovator. You’ll play a key role in driving process modernization, lean experimentation, and early exploration into AI's role in portfolio management. A strong understanding of how AI is evolving in the delivery and governance space will give you an edge.

Your Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

• Define and evolve the strategic direction of portfolio and project governance across the organization.
• Drive demand intake, prioritization, and resource capacity planning.
• Champion process efficiency and alignment with Waterfall and Agile principles.

Real-Time Portfolio & Roadmap Ownership

• Lead cross-functional execution of strategic initiatives and maintain business alignment across departments.
• Maintain real-time oversight of the corporate portfolio roadmap
• Provide clear and timely communication to leadership on shifting priorities, tradeoffs, and delivery progress.

Program Execution & Staffing Orchestration

• Grow and manage a high-performing team, continuously adjusting staffing capacity and skills alignment to support delivery.
• Operate within hybrid Agile and Waterfall models, enabling cross-functional execution at scale.

Financial Planning & Forecasting

• Own financial planning across the project portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
• Provide financial insights to stakeholders and executive leadership.

Process Improvement & Metrics

• Set a clear vision for PMO practices, implementing KPIs and driving adoption of improved Agile and hybrid delivery processes.

• Promote continuous improvement and delivery transparency through dashboards and scrum team metrics.

Team Leadership & Development

• Hire, mentor, and develop a team of project and program professionals.
• Build a collaborative, accountable, and delivery-focused culture.
• Develop career paths and performance development plans for team members.

Innovation & AI Exploration

• Identify and pilot opportunities to improve portfolio delivery using automation, AI, and intelligent tooling.
• Stay current on trends in AI-driven project management, demand forecasting, and intelligent resource planning.
• Promote a culture of experimentation, curiosity, and continuous improvement across your team and partners.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

• Bachelor's 8+ years of portfolio, program, or project management experience, including 5+ years leading teams.
• Proven ability to lead in high-change, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.
• Strong understanding of Agile (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
• Expertise with Project Management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, Tempus, Lucid, and/or Microsoft Project.
• Solid foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation across complex portfolios.
• Skilled at building and presenting executive level reports and presentations.
• Strong planning, organization, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrates innovation, curiosity, and a forward-looking mindset, especially around AI in delivery
