About the role

Job Summary: This position supports the Oncology Pharmacy Service Line in the oncology clinics around the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Health region. There is potential for additional responsibilities across the health system as assigned. 

Essential functions required of the position are as follows: 

  • Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building.

  • Maintains responsibility for quality of patient care, utilization, quantity, and cost of resources.

  • Fulfills a commitment to meet or exceed customer expectations. 
  • Participates in planning processes by establishing personal goals to support quality improvement efforts and contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives.

In addition to the core responsibilities of a manager, this individual will be responsible for the execution of strategic initiatives as assigned by the Program Director. Examples include medication safety initiatives, operational improvements, utilization support, and other core business planning. 

It will be imperative that this individual is a self-starter who can independently assess a given situation and apply the principles of situational leadership when appropriate. Change management skills, creative thinking, and high emotional intelligence will be vital to this individual’s success.

What You Will Need:

  • Completion of a Pharmacy School with accreditation is mandatory, along with either a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
  • Active registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy required.

Nice To Have (Not Required):

  • NC registered pharmacist with hospital experience.
  • Advanced business degree and completion of a Residency program preferred.
  • 2 - 4 years' pharmacy management experience preferred. 

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:

  • Leads people and manages systems.
  • Guides and ensures the completion of operational improvements and risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Mentors’ coordinators and staff members in the areas of responsibility to facilitate and reinforce learning.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates programs to ensure that optimal, high quality pharmaceutical care is provided.
  • Develops and ensures the implementation of strategic initiatives. 
  • Achieves maximum utilization, efficiency, performance, and safety of processes within the systems of responsibility.
  • Ensures systems are performing according to scorecard metrics.
  • Integrates pharmacy operational systems across functional teams and work areas within the department.
