In the North American Care Chemicals Division, we develop, produce, and market a comprehensive range of products for personal care, home care, and industrial and institutional cleaning, as well as various technical applications. Our range of products fulfills the highest standards regarding safety and sustainability. As a result of focused research and development, we are a preferred partner of our customers worldwide.

As the North American Product Manager for Bio-actives and Personal Care Ingredients, you will be part of the Personal Care Specialties team with product line responsibilities for these products sold within the North American market into cosmetic and personal care applications. Your primary focus is driving revenue and profitable growth. Success is measured by effective business and asset management of the product line to support incumbent and immediate business, along with the development and implementation of a portfolio line strategy to support long term sustained growth. This role has with overall P&L and Asset Management responsibility.

The products for which you are responsible are produced both on North American assets as well as imported from BASF’s global network of Bioactives and Personal Care Ingredients facilities. The position also has site specific asset management responsibility for the producing assets at the East Setauket, NY global production site.

As a Product Manager, you create chemistry by...

 

• Imparting leadership driving sustainable and profitable growth in Bio-actives and Personal Care Ingredients portfolio through effective margin management and volume growth of the assigned product groups including pricing, cost management, customer bids, business forecasting, S&OP management etc.
• Strategy planning and project execution working with complex, interdisciplinary, cross-functional and global teams.
• Driving strategic decisions for the business, you will develop a regional product line strategy for Bio-actives and Personal Care Ingredients in North America.
• Executing your strategic vision, developing and implementing an overall asset strategy for the East Setauket, NY production site, a global supply site, that considers how market, competitor and customer developments influence optimization measures and future site evolution and investment scenarios.
• Building your business savviness, monitoring market trends and drivers with an understanding of key raw material movements and developments.  You will also capture market, competitive and pricing intelligence through leverage of external and internal sources.
• Collaborating working closely with other product managers (NA and global) as well as Care Chemicals commercial, operations and production teams, other Business Units for transfer products, and BASF platform groups to participate in monthly meetings and execute deliverables.
• Representing North America, proactively articulating, influencing, and executing on NA interests and needs from your global counterparts.

If you...

• Have an education in a technical (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, etc.) or business (Marketing, Finance, etc.) and/ or related field and professional experience in marketing, supply chain, operations, product management, asset, business management and/or related experience.
• Possess strong strategic acumen and project execution skills.
• Collaborate and communicate well while working with complex, interdisciplinary, cross-functional, and global teams
