Job Summary:

Provides a continuous flow of sterile/reusable supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation which require centralized collection, disinfection, inspection, assembly, preparation, sterilization and monitoring to hospital areas with minimal guidance. Provides these services through knowledge and implementation of regulatory guidelines and designated policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintains work environment in a safe, clean, orderly manner.
• Receives, cleans and decontaminates supplies and equipment with departmental policies.
• Performs, documents and monitors all quality control tools.
• Receives and inventories departmental supplies, instrumentation and equipment.
• Prepares instrumentation and equipment according to recommended procedures and techniques in preparation for sterilization.
• Operates all departmental equipment safely and effectively.
• Scans instrumentation and assembles, according to prescribed procedures and techniques.

POSITION SHIFT INFORMATION

Weekend shift hours-

Saturday-Tuesday

Sat/Sun: 7:00am-5:30pm

Mon/Tues: 2:30pm-11:00pm

SIGN-ON BONUS REQUIREMENTS

The sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC within the last year



TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
• Surgical Equipment Knowledge (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of the equipment and related devices. Has solid knowledge of performance criteria. Able to use the equipment to accomplish advanced tasks associated with the specific devices. Easily resolves equipment problems.
• Inventory Control (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of inventory control in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
• Environmental Sterility & Safety (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of environmental sterility and safety in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering environmental sterility and safety services without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving technical instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
• Equipment Maintenance (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of preventive maintenance in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully maintaining equipment, products, or systems without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to conduct predictive maintenance on core products and equipment.
