Job Description:
Principal advisor on all matters related to the District’s Facilities (including long-range planning), Transportation, Safety & Security, and Planning Departments. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.
Position Specific Information (if Applicable):
Responsibilities:
--- Maintain compliance with and evaluate program policies and procedures. Prepare and deliver reports related to program effectiveness to the Board of Education, including recommendations for new policies or revisions to existing policies as requirements change.
--- Focus on facilitating a positive learning experience for students through effective transportation processes and facility maintenance, function and safety.
--- Work with each office and department to develop, monitor, and assess short and long-term goals and performance measures.
---Maintain a positive culture and climate for all staff.
--- Develop and monitor the division’s budget, including analysis of budget expenditures and recommendations for on-going operations efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring fiscal compliance and stability – this includes long-range budget planning for all departments.
--- Prepare items for the Board of Education action, discussion, and information relating to schools, procurement, facilities management, budget, materials management, transportation, and all financial matters.
--- Serve and support division employees by mentoring, training, handling grievances, evaluating performance, disciplining, and assisting with terminations.
--- Act as the District's representative on statewide school operations committees. Review legislation that may affect the operational status of the District; make recommendations that will benefit the operational stability of the District. Provide advice to the district's lobbyist on all school operation legislation.
--- Protect school district resources by helping program managers control expenditures while providing efficient, effective service through the design and implementation of a management analysis program and development of policy guidelines.
--- Creative problem-solving; maintaining a "can do" attitude as challenging issues arise.
--- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with governmental agencies, municipalities, community groups, and other stakeholders to support student achievement, maximize taxpayer assets/dollars, contribute to economic development, and maintain quality of life. Develop and approve intergovernmental and public/private agreements as required.
--- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested, as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet.
--- Monitor each office, department, and division strategic plan to ensure alignment with the DCSD Strategic Plan.
Work Experience:
Five (5) or more years experience in Engineering, Education, Business or Public Administration | Not Required
