Job Description:

   

The HPE Synergy Compute team is seeking to define and deliver the next generation architecture for HPE's embedded server management solution - HPE iLO.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple project teams (including internal staff and outsourced partners) through all stages of design and development for complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
  • Manage and strengthen relationships with internal and outsourced development partners across software systems design and development.
  • Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development standards; provide actionable feedback to improve product quality and reduce delivery and reliability risk.
  • Provide domain expertise and overall software systems leadership to cross-organization projects, programs, and initiatives.
  • Drive innovation by evaluating and integrating new technologies into projects and activities across the software systems design organization.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members.

Education and Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
  • Over six years of experience in software or firmware development is also necessary.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive experience with software systems design tools and multiple programming languages.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience defining end-to-end software system architectures for products and solutions.
  • Experience designing and integrating software systems across multiple platform types into a cohesive overall architecture.
  • Experience defining and improving software test methodologies, including writing and executing test plans and using debugging, test scripts, and automation tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with mastery of English and the local language; able to communicate architectures and design proposals and negotiate options with senior management.

About You:

  • Software development experience with compiled languages such as C and C++ (Python a plus)
  • Experience developing on Linux systems
  • Experience with GitHub-based source control workflows
  • Experience designing and maintaining thermal/cooling profiles for server products
  • Experience with modern CI/CD/CT practices and agile methodologies
  • Willingness to experiment and take on new challenges as they arise
  • Effective communicator who works well with a distributed team
  • Willingness to help unblock the team and deliver product features as needed
  • A healthy impatience to build and deliver products quickly

Nice to Have:

  • Firmware development experience
  • Experience contributing to open-source projects
  • Understanding of HPE server management and common industry protocols (e.g., Redfish and REST)
  • Experience with embedded device platforms such as iLO and/or OpenBMC
  • Conceptual understanding of PID control systems and thermal management
