Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Logistical Services, the Assistant Director provides management oversight for multiple logistics operations within Physical Plant Management (PPM), including Central Receiving, Distribution, Asset Management, and Postal Services. The position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing
- Plans, organizes, and directs inventory and distribution operations utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Supervises staff and ensures appropriate staffing levels to support operational needs.
- Directs Receiving and Postal Services operations to ensure timely and accurate processing of deliveries and distribution of mail and packages.
- Supervises, recruits, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates staff. Establishes performance expectations, provides employees with current position descriptions, ensures the timely completion of performance evaluations, and promotes employee development, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Assists the Director in developing, administering, and monitoring departmental operating budgets; analyzes expenditures; recommends resource allocations; and identifies opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost control.
- Leads and participates in departmental and campus-wide initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness, customer service, regulatory compliance, and organizational efficiency. Collaborates with campus departments and external stakeholders to support logistical services, implement process improvements, and address operational needs.

Qualifications:
- Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
- Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience, with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred.

- Logistics and Operational Management — Ability to plan, organize, and direct multiple logistical functions while maintaining efficient and reliable service delivery.
- People Leadership and Staff Development — Skill in supervising, coaching, evaluating, developing, and holding employees accountable for performance.
- Inventory and Asset Management — Ability to maintain inventory accuracy, strengthen internal controls, safeguard University assets, and support responsible stewardship of state property.
- Budget and Resource Management — Ability to analyze expenditures, support budget administration, allocate resources effectively, and identify opportunities for cost control.
