Schedule: PRN, variable shift position, minimum 20 hours per month. This position requires every other weekend and holiday commitment. Weekends and holiday shifts include differential pay.
Shift flexibility available: 4.5-hour AM shifts starting between 3:00am and 5:00am and 8.5-hour PM shifts from 12:00pm – 8:30pm.
This fast-paced hospital phlebotomist position is the perfect fit for someone who likes to work throughout all our hospital areas, has great phlebotomy skills, and is dependable. This role is a vital part of the healthcare team, and we are looking for someone who takes great pride in providing great service to our patients.
Qualified candidates will have experience in phlebotomy. Highly qualified candidates will have experience in phlebotomy in a hospital setting.
Job Summary:
Under specific direction, collects and prepares blood specimens and other samples for laboratory testing. Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record keeping duties.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collects blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary technique and processes the samples according to laboratory guidelines.
- Delivers samples to the laboratory in established time frames.
- May perform waived testing.
- May perform a variety of administrative duties to support the department.
- Identifies patients using two identifiers.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
