About the role

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the Sportsbook Lead Clerk Mutuel is to assist guests with placing wagers on horse racing and sporting events from around the globe. All duties are to be performed following departmental property policies, practices, and procedures.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the supervisor with daily operations of the race and sportsbook during assigned shifts to ensure company compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Monitor all tickets written, cashed, voided, and monies wagered during his/her shift.
  • Assist the supervisor with verifying cash drawers, completing reports, rating casino customer activity, and monitoring race and sports book for suspicious activity.
  • Maintain and reconcile a cash bank; responsible for accepting paymentand making a correct change when necessary.
  • Make paymentson winning ticketsin an accurate and timelymanner; verify ticketsand payoffs.
  • Handle writing/cashiering following department policy and procedures.
  • Verify LED boards are correct and verify the accuracy of guest informational sheets; provide guest informational sheets.
  • Ensure the protection of customers’ rewards and adherence to credit lines.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.
SUPERVISION:
  • Sportsbook Mutuel Clerks.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • One (1) year experience in the Race and Sportsbook or related casino area.
  • Two (2) years' experience in guest service positions with high-volume, cash handling.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
  • Gaming Registration as required by jurisdiction.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to adhere to and execute established department policies and procedures.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Basic knowledge of reservation and computer software including Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone, copier, and fax machine.
  • Excellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established deadlines, with particular attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling and squatting.
  • Ability to work in an environment where pipe, cigar, and cigarette smoking are permitted.
  • Must be able to stand for an entire shift and be able to move throughout the Casino/Hotel areas.
