Airport Financial Analyst Senior - Parking and Ground Transportation

Salary Range: $65,000-$85,000

General Description and Classification Standards 

The Financial Analyst Sr - The purpose of this position is to perform in-dept financial analysis, audit functions, reconciliations and provide recommendations to improve the efficiencies of the City’s Airport Parking and Ground Transportation Revenue Control Systems, products, and services.  Ability to interpret and have a general knowledge of financial/audit practices, policies and procedures applicable regulations and standards as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities of the job.  Assemble information and prepare written reports and documents in a concise, clear, and effective manner. Develop and implement long-term goals to promote effectiveness and efficiency. Remain abreast of policy changes, methods, and operational budgetary needs.  Effectively communicate with all aspects of customer relation, which may include, but not limited to elected officials, management, employees, and the general public.

As part of the Financial Reporting team, they will be responsible for ensuring that revenue is recorded timely and accurately in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as prescribed by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

Supervision Received

Works under general supervision. May work independently with responsibility for assigned function(s) or program(s).

• Review general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness.
• Reconciling general ledger accounts.
• Performing account analysis and developing explanations for significant variances.
• Assists with the preparation of monthly reporting and quarterly financial reporting package.
• Assists with the preparation of internal management reporting.
• Assists with research and implementation of new accounting processes
• Utilize audit procedures to test and review financial processes and present findings
• Performs technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance
• Develops, interprets and implements financial concepts for financial planning and control.
• Performs technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance.
• Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, trended future requirements and operating forecasts.
• Carries out assignments that are typically straightforward in nature. Collaborates with senior peers on projects.
• Other duties as required.

Formal Knowledge:

• Knowledge of Excel including use of Macros, Pivot Tables, data collection and management
• Familiarity with a variety of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting applications.
• Working knowledge and skilled in the use of computers and related data processing and financial software applications, and ability to read, understand an interpret financial reports and related materials

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (Equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis). Five years of specific professional experience. May have some project management or leadership experience.
