Description
Be at the forefront of change and become part of the innovative and forward-thinking academic team at the University of Michigan-Flint's Physician Assistant Department in the rapidly expanding College of Health Sciences! The Physician Assistant program at UM-Flint is seeking a LEO Lecturer I starting in the Winter 2026 semester to serve as a Lab Assistant for PPA 531 and PPA 534 at 4.10% effort. The meeting days and times for these courses are TBD.
Course Descriptions:
PPA 531 - Patient Evaluation for PA Practice I: Skills required to perform a complete medical evaluation of a patient. Interviewing, effective communication skills, physical examination techniques utilizing a systems anatomic approach, construction and writing of organized medical histories and physical examination.
PPA 534 - Patient Evaluation for PA Practice IV: Skills required to perform a complete medical evaluation of a patient. Interviewing, effective communication skills, physical examination techniques utilizing a systems anatomic approach, construction and writing of organized medical histories and physical examination. Emphasis on refining differential diagnoses, ordering appropriate laboratory and imaging studies, and completing an assessment and plan, performing patient-oriented physical examinations. Instruction on hands-on clinical skills with clinical implications of findings.
Responsibilities
Provide course instruction through course lectures and laboratory instruction, grade assignments, quizzes, and tests in cooperation with the course coordinator and faculty, assist with course skills and procedures check-offs. Provide remedial instruction to students to assist them in achieving expected course competencies in clinical medicine and patient evaluation. Work cooperatively with course coordinator and faculty to engage students to share in their responsibility for learning. This position involves instructing PA students in ultrasound techniques and assessing their competency in performing diagnostic ultrasounds.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Physician Assistant
- State of Michigan Physician Assistant license
- NCCPA Board certification
Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with point-of-care ultrasound in a clinical setting
- Experience with teaching ultrasound in medical education
