  Advertised Salary: $44,000 - $46,000 commensurate with qualifications plus an excellent, comprehensive benefit package (health care, vacation, retirement, etc.)   FLSA: Exempt   Temporary/Continuing:  Continuing   Part-Time/Full-Time: Full-Time   Union Group: N/A   Term of Position: 12 Month   At Will/Just Cause: At Will   Summary of Position: Further the mission of Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) by providing exceptional guest service experiences and professional retail opportunities to the KCAD and Grand Rapids communities. Responsible for all inventory management, consignment agreements, and wholesale buying for retail shop at KCAD. Position will be required to be available to work weekends and evenings as needed to support exhibition openings, events and programs as needed. Reports to KCAD President.   Position Type: Staff   Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, retail management, fine art, design, or related field.   Required Work Experience: At least two years of prior experience in a retail environment with a supervisory role including sales, cash handling, point of sale systems, inventory and merchandise management experience.   Required Licenses and Certifications:     Physical Demands:

  Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:     Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for all matters pertaining to the retail shop at KCAD.
Provide excellent customer service including but not limited to; greeting visitors, answering phones and email inquiries while operating the retail shop at KCAD point of sale (POS) counter.
Oversee use of POS system including daily use, training, developing procedures, troubleshooting, and support coordination with vendor.
Ensures proper use of the POS and inventory management systems to maintain accurate inventory, using proper receiving, invoice payment, accounts receivable, and customer sales processes. Coordinates processes with the Manager of the Ferris Outfitters retail operation and other FSU Administration and Finance areas.
Use various software tools and systems in support of store operations, train others on the use of these systems and develop and maintain appropriate procedures for the use of these systems.
Collaborate with Communications team on the retail shop at KCAD marketing, graphic design, and social media needs and messaging.
Demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
Perform daily sales and cash handling including opening and closing procedures, deposits as needed, and related duties.
Manage inventory of the retail shop at KCAD to include: purchasing, pricing, consignment contracts, wholesale orders, and merchandise displays.
Monitor sales, inventory, and other financial performance goals against budget, prior history, and other benchmarks, including monthly financial reporting.
Proactively influence merchandise assortment, identifying collaborative partnership opportunities, analyzing customer and campus needs, and providing timely feedback with merchandise sourcing resources.
Assist with the development, implementation, and coordination of marketing and sales promotion activities including merchandising display.
Generate inventory sales reports to determine inventory needs.
Work with KCAD’s Academic Affairs to support and order supplies needed for KCAD classes.
Prepare monthly reports that track revenue, expenses and inventory turnover.
Prepare consignment contracts and reports for artist payment.
Develop special offers, coupons or other incentives.
Monitor cleanliness of retail area, assisting as needed.
Supervise student employees including recommending for hire, training, scheduling, and timekeeping responsibilities.
Support, promote, and develop University student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.   Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Lead on-site sales for events as needed.
