Position Summary

To coordinate the activities of the Blending department so that resources are maximized to produce the highest product quality, minimize operating costs, meet all production schedules and provide a high degree of customer service. Coordinate with team to brainstorm and consult on continuous improvement efforts that enhance efficiencies of the department.  Committed to achieving excellence in quality, health and safety, the environment and food safety.

Key Responsibilities

• OHSA - Ensure compliance of Occupational Health & Safety Act (section 25, 26, 27, and 28) per Hiram Walker & Son’s Ltd Policy- Management-Supervision-Worker Safety Responsibilities.
• Direct supervision of Blending Process Operators in a two shift operation in conjunction with the Process Lead.
• Contribute insight and data to shift toolbox talks.
• Non-Conformance management involving root cause analysis to achieve target of zero.
• Ensure all department KPI’s are upheld while keeping production facility clean & clear.
• Comply with all HWS management systems and with all Health and Safety policies and legislation Manpower management backup of Blending Process Lead.
• Financial responsibility for Operating Costs: $50,000CDN.
• Support departmental projects from inception through to completion.
• Manage highly automated blending department equipment using custom DCS Software linked with MRP system.
• Proper planning of tank usage, transfers, path optimization & cleaning.
• Handle component and supplies receivals while maintaining proper inventory management.
• Ensure traceability and compliance to excise requirements as well as retaining and storing for audit purposes.
• Maintenance – Identification, Work order Entry and Lock out Tag Out.
• Drive process improvement initiatives to reduces CO2, water/air usage, liquid waste, process downtime and increase process efficiencies.
• Ensure production requirements are met:
• Distillery production – timely receipt of new distillate from Distillery to supply D&F, Bulk & Bottling.
• Drain & Fill production – timely provision of drain tanks / new distillate per Drain & Fill schedule.
• Bulk production – timely loading/unloading of Tankers & Railcars as per bulk schedule.
• Bottling Production – timely processing of blends to specification & equipment troubleshooting to meet bottling schedule.
• Internal, regular work-related contact with:
  • Bottling Planner, Bulk Manager, Bulk Planner, D&F Supervisor - Production planning
  • Blending Manager - Manufacturing; production planning
  • Director of Research - Project consultation
  • QA Technicians – production requirements
• External, regular work-related contact with:
  • Excise- Information exchange
  • Contractors- consulting/reviewing
  • Suppliers- consultations/reviewing
