POSITION OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a highly responsible professional position that serves as the Division's Special Projects Coordinator and works under the direction of the Division of Elder Opportunities Director to coordinate strategic initiatives, community partnerships, public education efforts, research activities, and special projects that support the Division's mission and priorities.

PAY:

The hourly rate of pay pay will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, ranging from $15.00 to $20.00, hourly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Initiatives & Special Projects - This is a highly responsible professional position that works under the direction of the Division of Elder Opportunities Director as a Special Projects Coordinator. The incumbent coordinates and supports the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of strategic initiatives, pilot projects, and special assignments that advance the mission and priorities of the Division of Elder Opportunities.

  • Responsibilities include conducting research and environmental scans to identify emerging trends, best practices, funding opportunities, and innovative approaches related to aging services, fraud prevention, disaster preparedness, volunteer engagement, digital literacy, and other Division priorities. Assists in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of new programs, initiatives, and service delivery models.
  • Develops project plans, timelines, reports, presentations, briefing materials, and recommendations for leadership. Monitors project progress, identifies barriers to implementation, and recommends corrective actions to support successful project outcomes. Assists with policy development, process improvement activities, and continuous quality improvement efforts designed to enhance program effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Provides research, analysis, and technical support for special projects, legislative requests, Legislative Budget Requests (LBRs), budget development activities, grant proposals, executive assignments, strategic planning initiatives, and other Division priorities. Assists in preparing executive correspondence, presentations, reports, briefing materials, and other documents for agency leadership, external stakeholders, and elected officials.
  • Conducts research and analysis of comparable state, federal, and national programs to identify best practices, emerging trends, and opportunities for program enhancement. Develop recommendations to support leadership decision-making and the successful implementation of Division initiatives.

 

Community Partnerships, Outreach, and Public Engagement - Develops, maintains, and strengthens collaborative relationships with local, state, federal, nonprofit, academic, and private-sector organizations that support the mission and priorities of the Division of Elder Opportunities. Serves as a liaison between the Division and community partners to promote awareness of Department programs, services, initiatives, and resources available to older adults throughout Florida.

  • Coordinates and participates in community outreach activities, stakeholder meetings, conferences, workshops, and special events designed to educate the public and increase awareness of aging services, elder rights, fraud prevention, disaster preparedness, digital safety, volunteer opportunities, and other Division priorities. Assists in the planning, organization, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of statewide and regional events, training, and public awareness initiatives.
  • Coordinates with the OVCS Coordinator and other Division staff to support volunteer engagement, training activities, outreach initiatives, special events, and other collaborative projects that advance Division priorities and expand community impact.
