Novelis is the world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, producing a significant amount of the world's flat-rolled aluminum products. We work alongside our customers to provide innovative solutions to the aerospace, beverage can, automotive and high-end specialty markets.

We are currently looking for a talented HR Leader for our plant in Richmond, VA.  This position will report into the HR Director and support the Plant Manager along with leadership at the plant. 

Position Overview:

The Human Resource Leader is responsible for providing a wide range of transactional and strategic human resource services including compensation, recruitment and selection, personnel administration, employee training and development, organizational development, employee relations, and change management to employees of the Richmond Plant.

As a strategic partner, this role aligns business objectives with employees and management at the Plant. This role also serves as a consultant to management on Human Resource related issues. A successful HR Leader will live the Novelis Culture Beliefs, act as an employee champion and change agent who can quickly and sustainably develop trust of managers and employees alike. The incumbent assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and communicates to business management proactively, seeking to develop integrated solutions. This role formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver valuable service to management and employees that reflects the strategic objectives of the organization.

This position will need to make decisions and recommendations that balance the needs of the employee and objectives of the Company. Decision-making is very broad in scope with many variables interacting at any given time.

• Provide guidance to location employees on standard processes on a variety of employee related issues and situations.
• Provide support to employees and managers for timely completion of HR processes.
• Drive Talent Management initiatives in support of employee development and engagement across client groups.
• Assist with addressing performance-related issues.
• Work with Comp to evaluate jobs to determine correct job band.
• Assist with compensation recommendations for internal employees to maintain internal equity.
• Work closely with TA CoE to fill positions quickly, with best available talent.
• Oversee onboarding process to ensure completion of all pre-employment steps as well as new hire paperwork, HRIS data set up and on-going support to new hires.
• Communicate with payroll and benefits on employee status changes (ex. new hires, transfers, off-cycle pay increases, salary adjustment, relocations, terminations). maintain accurate employment records in the Novelis systems of record, follow established processes
• Work with the local union on grievances, negotiations and other labor relations matters
• Request and coordinate the preparation of routine and ad hoc reports from the HRIS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Human Resources or related field from an accredited college or university
• Five+ years of progressive human resources experience (prefer in a union environment)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Self-motivation to get results and complete tasks independently
• Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization clearly and concisely
• Must be able to organize and prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
• Experience with HR systems (HRIS, ATS, etc.) preferred
