Our team plays a vital role in combating identity fraud by delivering innovative, high-performing backend systems that power Mitek’s premier Identity products. As a Senior Software Engineer (Backend), you’ll design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that handle high-traffic workloads with reliability and efficiency. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect robust APIs, implement new features, and continuously improve our products through thoughtful engineering practices. We’re looking for a seasoned backend engineer who thrives in a collaborative, agile environment — someone who’s passionate about modern cloud technologies, eager to solve complex problems, and committed to delivering high-quality, secure, and performant software that makes a real-world impact. While this role focuses primarily on backend development, our teams also own some front-end components. Front-end experience isn’t required — you’ll have opportunities to learn and contribute to those areas on the job if needed. 

What You Will Do (Core Responsibilities):

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain production-ready API solutions. 
• Write and execute unit/integration/performance tests to ensure the quality of our products. 
• Create and maintain internal software documentation and public API documentation. 
• Collaborate with other software engineers, researchers, product managers, and cloud/operation engineers to determine requirements, implement, deploy, test, and support our products. 
• Follow Agile/Scrum processes like daily stand-ups, refinements, planning, and retrospectives.
