The Maintenance Department Leader oversees the repair and maintenance of buildings, plant equipment, and manufacturing equipment. This role is responsible for scheduling preventive and predictive maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime, supporting safety initiatives, and leading a team of skilled technicians.
Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise maintenance activities for facilities, production equipment, and machinery to ensure timely repairs, reduce downtime, and maintain safe working conditions.
Plan and schedule preventative and predictive maintenance, major equipment overhauls, and facility improvements to optimize equipment, performance, and reliability.
Manage computerized maintenance systems to ensure accurate data tracking and complete equipment history records.
Train, mentor, and develop maintenance staff to strengthen team performance and technical skills.
Contribute to the development of a comprehensive safety program; maintain safety records and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Recommend and oversee equipment upgrades, installations, and engineering controls to improve operational efficiency. by processing.
Assists with developing a comprehensive departmental budget and monitors spending to remain within budgetary guidelines.
Provide troubleshooting and repair support for R&D equipment and instrumentation; coordinate with vendors and other sites and escalate as needed.
Support emergency repairs at another nearby site when needed.
Work occasional weekends as required to support emergency or planned projects by coordinating and/or supporting completion of emergency repairs, contractual work, facility/equipment PMs, etc.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
Associate degree (or equivalent coursework) preferred or equivalent technical training and experience.
Certification:
None.
Experience:
5-8 years of experience in maintenance or related technical disciplines, with prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance programs.
Good mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Proficiency with basic computer applications.
Physical Requirements:
Work performed in both office and manufacturing/warehouse environments with an ability to work weekends, as required.
Environment:
The environment for this position varies from clean, climate-controlled offices to manufacturing and warehouse areas.
Safety:
Must be able to perform duties safely and promote a culture of safety.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Directly supervises a team of 11-15 employees.
