40Position Summary
We are advertising for a highly motivated individual to join Dr. Kiran Mahajan's research laboratory in the Department of Surgery. We are using multiple model systems as described in our recent publications (Nguyen et. al., CCR, 2022, Mahajan K et al., Cancer Cell 2017; Mahajan K et al. Nature Structural Biology 2012; Yao et al., Scientific Reports 2019, Kim et al. NAR Cancer 2020) to perform basic and translation research. We combine genetic, genomic, molecular, and biochemical approaches to develop novel therapeutics for prostate cancers.Assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Health Sciences or Molecular Biology with strong interest in cutting-edge research.
- Molecular biology experience including DNA/RNA extractions, gel electrophoresis, and Western blot.
- 1 year of experience in working with genetically engineered mouse models and flow cytometry.
- Working knowledge of computer software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, GraphPad Prism) and general lab equipment.

$16.92 - $26.44 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
