About the role

As a Junior Software Engineer (Working Student), you will join a dynamic and collaborative team focused on developing and maintaining Nokia’s cutting-edge software solutions used in a variety of applications and across a global customer base.

You will be part of Mobile Networks, a business group that delivers mobile network products, deployment services, technical support, and network management solutions. Mobile Networks offers a comprehensive portfolio for building mobile access networks and is driving innovation in key technologies such as 5G, Open RAN (ORAN), and virtualized RAN (vRAN).

Position: Junior Software Engineer Trainee 
Duration: Part-time 6h/day
Location: Hybrid in Timisoara, Romania

  • Operates within clearly defined guidelines, standard operating procedures, and established technical methods, under regular supervision
  • Analyzes information to resolve routine issues, evaluating options and selecting the most suitable solutions from predefined alternatives
  • Develops program code and produces technical specifications in alignment with project requirements
  • Collaborates closely with analysts, designers, and test engineers throughout the development lifecycle
  • Reviews existing systems and contributes ideas for enhancements and refactoring to improve performance and maintainability
  • Conducts testing of software in controlled environments to ensure functionality and reliability prior to release
  • Works in an agile environment, prioritizing and delivering the most valuable and relevant features first

Must have:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related technical field
  • Basic programming skills, preferably in C++, with a good understanding of core concepts like data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming
  • Familiarity with software development principles such as design patterns, code quality metrics, static code analysis, and basic testing techniques (black-box and white-box)
  • Introductory knowledge of Agile practices (e.g., Scrum), test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration (CI), and code coverage tools
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken

  • Creative thinking and a willingness to find practical, out-of-the-box solutions in a fast-paced, evolving environment
