About the role

Editorial Assistant, WaterBrook & Multnomah (Hybrid-Colorado Springs)

The WaterBrook and Multnomah imprints of Penguin Random House are looking for an Editorial Assistant to join their team. WaterBrook and Multnomah publish books that equip and inspire readers to thrive in their Christian faith amid the complexities and opportunities of life.

WaterBrook and Multnomah are imprints of Penguin Random House, Inc., the world’s largest general trade book publisher.  Penguin Random House is a division of Bertelsmann AG, one of the foremost media companies in the world.

Offering timeless messages informed by a biblical perspective, the two imprints publish across a broad range of categories including motivational and inspirational, Christian living, relationships and parenting, culture and faith, biography and memoir, fiction, children’s YA, and devotional and gift books. We have published numerous bestselling authors, including Tim Tebow, John Mark Comer, Jennie Allen, Michael Todd, Ashley Hetherington, Madison Prewett Troutt, Latasha Morrison, Jordan Lee Dooley, David Platt, Mark Batterson, Rich Villodas, Jordan Raynor, Joshua Becker, Lisa Tawn Bergren, Andrew Peterson, and Katie Davis Majors.

At WaterBrook, the daily responsibilities of the Editorial Assistant include all-around project support for the editors, calendar and meeting management, proposal/manuscript reading and submission management, research, building reports, soliciting endorsements, drafting flap and catalog copy, and brainstorming creative publishing approaches and solutions to help authors/books through the publication process.

Our ideal candidate is highly motivated, enthusiastic about publishing, and enjoys reading broadly and often. We are looking for a detail-oriented, meticulous self-starter who loves books of all types and is invested in the process of bringing them to a wide readership, has strong writing and analytical skills, communicates clearly, is comfortable asking for help when needed, and wants to be active participant on a collaborative team. If you can handle the details of immediately urgent tasks but also remember to step back, consider the big picture, and adjust your strategy when needed, you'll assume greater editorial responsibilities over time.

This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities, which will include but not be limited to executing mailings and participating in and contributing to in-person meetings with authors and agents. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance at our offices in Colorado Springs.

Please apply using our ATS system by September 19, 2024, and include your resume and cover letter for consideration. Before applying for any role at Penguin Random House we recommend you review our applicant resources page and look over our open to remote guidelines on our FAQs page.
