About the role

Textile waste is a growing global challenge. Syre’s mission is to decarbonize and dewaste textiles, starting with the world's biggest fiber, polyester. By implementing true textile-to-textile recycling at hyperscale, we want to drive the transition from a linear to a circular value chain by putting textile waste to use, over and over again.

We're looking for a passionate and experienced Product Manager with a background in sustainable textiles, specifically yarn innovation. You'll have a proven record of successful product launches in an ambitious environment and a deep commitment to environmentally responsible practices. Your expertise in textile technology, product development, global sourcing, and hands-on yarn spinning, combined with a strong understanding of sustainability, will be essential as you lead the development and management of our eco-conscious yarn and fiber products.

We're expanding our technology team and need a hands-on leader to accelerate our textile-to-textile supply chain, focusing on yarn spinning and textile processing. This role is based in Mebane, North Carolina, but you will work with a global team, leading partnerships in Europe, Southeast Asia, and the United States. And, you'll be responsible for the company's yarn and sustainable textile product strategy, from concept to end-of-life, with a strong focus on sustainability.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Yarn Supply Chain Management: Oversee the entire yarn supply chain, both internal and external, including project management of yarn spinning capability from installation and commissioning through ongoing operation, in collaboration with engineering, operations, and technical teams. This includes developing and implementing sustainable sourcing strategies, managing day-to-day yarn production operations, maintaining appropriate inventory levels, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. This also includes operational training related to yarn production.
  • Sustainable Product Strategy & Innovation: Define and execute the product strategy for sustainable textile product lines. Identify innovation and M&A opportunities in textile materials by monitoring sustainability trends and emerging yarn and fiber technologies. Lead yarn spinning trials at pilot and commercial scale, both in-house and with external partners, and implement/direct yarn testing procedures.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Manage the product lifecycle of textile products, prioritizing sustainability at every stage, from concept to end-of-life. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams (design, sourcing, manufacturing, marketing, commercial) to develop and launch sustainable products, develop forecasts, and manage inventory for sustainable yarn products.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate the company's sustainability initiatives and product benefits to key stakeholders.

We would prefer if you have/are

  • A Bachelor's degree in Textile Technology, Textile Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or other related field
  • 8+ years of experience in product management within the textile industry, demonstrating a track record of successful product launches or lifecycle management.
  • Deep understanding of sustainability principles and practices within the textile industry, including lifecycle assessment, circular economy models, and relevant certifications (e.g., GOTS, OEKO-TEX).
  • Knowledge of sustainable textile materials (e.g., recycled fibers, organic cotton, innovative bio-based materials) and environmentally responsible manufacturing processes (e.g., closed-loop systems, water conservation, reduced chemical usage).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated passion for sustainability and environmental responsibility, ideally through personal projects, volunteer work, or other relevant experiences.
  • Hands-on experience with textile machinery, including knowledge of different spinning technologies and fiber types, is a significant advantage.
  • Strong understanding of current textile industry trends, including yarn and fiber innovations, performance textiles, and sustainable material advancements.
  • Are fluent in English both orally and in writing (professional English required)

You will be reporting to the CTO and should be located nearby Mebane, North Carolina, USA.
