Medical Assistant - Pediatrics - Rancho Bernardo

This is a benefited, full time position working in the Pediatrics department at Scrips Clinic Rancho Bernardo. We currently have two openings: 

• Monday-Friday generally from 9am-6pm with the occasional Saturday, primarily clinic duties but expected to help with administrative tasks as needed

• Monday-Friday generally 7am-4pm with the occasional Saturday, must be flexible with shift start times between 7am-8am, hybrid clinic & administrative duties

What youll do: 

• The 9am-6pm position is predominantly back-office responsibilities but expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basis
• The 7am-4pm position is a hybrid Medical Assistant/Patient Services Rep (PSR) role, splitting time between back- and front-office duties
• Administering vaccines to infants through adolescents
• Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
• Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
• BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)
