About the role

An Applied Computer Science intern will work with our manufacturing team to develop software (backend & frontend) that improve our production data traceability and communicates production metrics for our operations team. The work will consist of interactions with stakeholders and programming to develop custom solutions. Responsible for database development and, building data collection tools for traceability of our parts within our facility, and creating visualizations to analyze and display data to our operations team. We use primarily Ignition and SQL Server.

Job purpose

An Applied Computer Science intern will work with our manufacturing team to develop software (backend & frontend) that improve our production data traceability and communicates production metrics for our operations team.  The work will consist of interactions with stakeholders and programming to develop custom solutions.  Responsible for database development and, building data collection tools for traceability of our parts within our facility, and creating visualizations to analyze and display data to our operations team.  We use primarily Ignition and SQL Server.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop visualizations for our production floor that help our operations team track and prioritize components

  • Improve traceability of components through the automated and manual assembly lines

  • Work with operators, team leads, supervisors, and engineers to understand all aspects of an issue and provide software solutions that meet the needs of all users

  • Create reliable and user-friendly programs, applications or tools that can be used successfully by a large variety of users with varied levels of technical knowledge

What we’re looking for

  • Pursuing a degree in data science, computer engineering, computer science, or software engineering

  • Familiarity with Python, C++ or Java, & SQL, familiarity with IGNITION a plus

  • Experienced and capable in using MS Suite tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Understanding of relational databases

  • Capable of taking feedback from various sources and developing a ground-up solution that solves production issues
