Emergency Medical Technician - Full Time - Nights - Corporate Health Services

Responsible for providing emergency care, first aid, and basic life support to injured or ill employees at a contracted client site. Functions independently as the sole onsite clinical provider covering night shifts, participates in emergency response activities, and reports employee encounters and significant events to the Nurse Practitioner daily to ensure continuity of care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Clinical Services:
• Adhere to all Howmet Aerospace policies, procedures, and workplace standards.
• Comply with Medical Clinic Standing Orders approved by the Plant Physician and Howmet Aerospace.
• Assess and provide first aid treatment for work-related injuries and illnesses, including appropriate follow-up care according to standing orders and physician direction.
• Consult with the Plant Physician and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager when treatment recommendations are unclear or when employees have questions regarding care recommendations.
• Document all injury and illness encounters accurately and completely.
• Communicate treatment outcomes and work-related injury information to supervisors, group leaders, and managers immediately following employee evaluation and treatment.
• Respond to on-site emergencies while utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) training requirements as directed by Atlantic Health System (AHS).
Occupational Health Services:
Perform components of employee occupational health surveillance programs, including:
o Vision screening
o Audiometric testing (CAOHC certification required)
o Spirometry testing (NIOSH certification required)
• Conduct substance abuse collections for post-injury, post-incident, and other company-required testing programs.
• Provide Bloodborne Pathogen education using the approved Howmet Aerospace training materials.
Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities:
• Maintain electronic and paper medical records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Enter data into OHM and other required databases, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
• Generate reports as required by Howmet Aerospace and Atlantic Corporate Health (ACH).
• Create, organize, and maintain employee medical files.
• Develop and maintain spreadsheets for physical examination tracking, physician communications, and clinic activity.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Maintain adequate inventory levels of medical supplies and ensure proper clinic organization and readiness.
Reporting and Department Requirements:
• Submit monthly clinic activity reports to Atlantic Corporate Health in accordance with departmental policy.
• Submit weekly timesheets to ACH each Wednesday and accurately record work hours in API.
• Obtain approval from ACH for all PTO requests prior to scheduled time off.
Scheduling Expectations:
• Maintain flexibility to work schedules that support clinic operations, including occasional evening, night and weekend coverage as needed.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current NJ EMT certification with a minimum of three-five years (3-5) of clinical experience.
• Valid Driver's License - free of restrictions
• CAOHC Occupational Hearing Conservation Technician certification obtained within six (6) months after hire.
• NIOSH Spirometry certification obtained within six (6) months after hire.
• Substance Abuse Collection certification obtained within six (6) months after hire.
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• No restrictions, sanctions, or disciplinary actions on professional licensure or certification.
