Maintenance Technician – Clean Utilities

Organization Overview:

The Clean Utilities Technician has specific responsibilities in the project phase up to support site start-up and long term day-to-day operations of the site after start-up.

After start-up, the Clean Utilities Technician is responsible for maintaining the site’s facility Clean Utilities infrastructure [PW, WFI, Clean Steam, Clean Compressed Air (CCA), etc.] and clean rooms HVAC in a state of compliance and fit for use when needed. To achieve this goal, he/she must establish reliable operation and maintain the qualified state of the equipment and business processes in the areas, implement efficient and effective maintenance and reliability techniques, and appropriate corrective and improvement actions are taken, when necessary, in the spirit continuous improvement initiatives. 

Responsibilities:

  • Operation of mechanical equipment used in a regulated manufacturing environment (WFI, Clean Steam, PCA, pumps, motors, valves, etc.).
  • Monitors daily utility system performance (WFI, Clean Steam, CCA, DPs in clean rooms, etc.).
  • Performs routine walk through of area(s) of support and is responsible for standard troubleshooting of problems on WFI, Clean Steam, PCA, pumps, motors, valves, etc.
  • Be the support technician for all utility systems under his/her responsibility, understanding GMP utility (WFI, Clean Steam, PCA, etc.) applications in aseptic manufacturing.
  • Ensure utility systems efficiency, availability, and performance.
  • Supports Clean Utilities Engineer on process flow and controls of process parameters.
  • Engaged on communication with internal stakeholder in case of system issues and to understand their need.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by following safety rules and helping improve the safety culture.
  • Participates with engineering team to identify opportunities to improve quality & reliability and leads/directs in small projects for area of support. 
  • Provide input into capital projects targeted at both short- and long-term needs and provides support on delivery of small projects in their area(s).  
  • Responsible for equipment reliability issues & maintenance strategy, responsible to ensure work orders are correctly closed before the due date and the maintenance programs are adequately implemented.
  • Participate/provide oversight in ensuring planned or unplanned maintenance activities are scheduled and executed effectively.
  • Interface with external contractors in case of needs or involve them on projects when required.
  • Manages routine maintenance work and schedule compliance.


Basic Requirements:

  • Technical knowledge and experience of Clean Utilities systems and HVAC in clean rooms as a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong computer skills in a variety of software packages (SAP, Trackwise, MS Word, Excel, etc.), previous experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (i.e., MAXIMO).
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.
  • Relevant experience operating in an FDA regulated manufacturing environment.
  • At least 2 years in Engineering and/or Maintenance experience.
  • High School Diploma | GED


Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Associate degree in Engineering or Technical field (preferred).
  • Previous facility start-up experience.
  • Previous equipment commissioning, qualification and process validation experience.
  • Previous experience with deviation and change management systems including Trackwise.
  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) exposure/knowledge/experience.
  • Parenteral manufacturing experienc
