 Social Worker - Behavioral Health/Psychiatry In-Patient -  Per-Diem - Days

 

In this role you’ll serve as psychiatric social worker for patients and their families, providing clinical social work services such as psychiatric and psychosocial assessments, therapeutic interventions, psycho-education, family intervention, patient advocacy, and discharge planning tailored to the needs of patients within the Women's Program. Here, you'll experience all the reasons why you entered such a rewarding field.

 

This is a per diem day shift (Monday - Friday) position located at NewYork-Presbyterian/Westchester Behavioral Health Center.

 

Preferred Criteria

  • Knowledge of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

 

Required Criteria

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW)
  • Licensed Masters Social Work (LMSW) by the state of NY within 1 year of hire
  • Limited Permit (must supply exam date prior to start of employment)
  • Fieldwork or previous experience in a psychiatric setting
  • Form a therapeutic relationship with patients and maintain a neutral therapeutic stance
  • Knowledge base of bio-psychosocial model, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV (DSM-IV) diagnoses, criteria for treatment of different diagnoses in an acute care setting, behavioral risk factors and of the impact of mental illness upon individual and family functioning
  • Competency in individual, family and group treatment modalities and treatment techniques appropriate to an inpatient treatment setting
  • Conduct initial evaluations and psychosocial assessments and to establish individualized and measurable treatment goals
  • Knowledge base of community and discharge planning resources and processes
  • Effective organizational skills to manage clinical, discharge planning and documentation requirements within assigned LOS of inpatient hospitalization
  • Communicate effectively and to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team; demonstrated self-awareness to identify learning needs and capacity to apply supervisory feedback into practice
