Security Training Officer

Responsibilities:
- Deliver and/or coordinate campus security training that includes but is not limited to: CPR, First Aid, Class D and G State certifications.
- Monitor and maintain the training and certification records of all campus security officers; ensure all campus security officers continuously meet established training and certification requirements.
- Enforce University security policies for students, employees, outside vendors, and visitors.
- Respond to all emergencies, coordinate law enforcement, medical, and/or fire assistance, provide a proactive role after the emergency has concluded, and make appropriate notifications on campus as directed.
- Prepare schedules for conducting in-service training for security personnel.
- Conduct and/or coordinate safety training for the campus community on all aspects of personal safety.
- Work special events to provide traffic, parking, and crowd control as needed.
- Related projects and initiatives.
- May be required to work during emergency situations, work designated alternate hours, and perform other responsibilities as needed.
Education:
- HS Diploma or GED
Requirements:
- Additional certifications, licensing, degrees, and/or training in law enforcement, security, or related field are preferred
- 2-5 years of experience required in the area of expertise
- Ability to provide informed and accurate training to security professionals as well as community members. Ability to conduct themselves professionally, use excellent acumen with university faculty, staff, students, dignitaries, and a much cultured community
Licenses:
- State of Florida, Class D: Security Officer License
- State of Florida, Class G: Armed Security Officer License
- State of Florida, Class K: Firearms Instructor License within 90 days of hire
- Previous Instructor training experience
- State of Florida driver's license and maintain a good driving record as defined per Florida Tech's insurance guidelines

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information and impose certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.
