The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for an Adult Probation Officer 1/2A at the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center (HMCC) located in Eagle River, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Provide supervision and case management for adult offenders who have been remanded into the custody of the Department of Corrections at Hiland Mountain Correctional Center.
  • Daily interaction with offenders, conduct investigations, evaluate and assess offender needs and risk level, develop and recommend release plans, classification actions, referrals to programs, Parole Board Packets, and life skills and rehabilitation of prisoners prior to the release in the community.
  • Provide documentation, reports, and written recommendations requiring professional level assessment.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

You will work in a professional office environment, interacting with the Superior Court, District Attorney’s Office, local law enforcement, and inmates. You will be required to attend training from time to time, which may or may not be at your worksite.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any field.

Four years of paraprofessional experience in probation, parole, pretrial, criminal justice, juvenile justice, social services, corrections, criminal investigation, public safety or law enforcement.
