<h2>Job Description</h2> <p>At IFF, we work tirelessly to discover flavors and fragrances that inspire customers and delight consumers. Passionate, creative, empowered and expert, we are constantly looking for new challenges—and developing new-to-world solutions that answer them. </p> <p><br/> We are currently seeking for a Senior Analytical Scientist to join our team in Tilburg, Netherlands.</p> <p><br/> As a Senior Analytical Scientist, you will join the IFF Tilburg Analytical Services R&amp;D group, focused on delivering high quality analytical solutions and results to support IFF R&amp;D projects and commercial initiatives.  In this position, you are member of our global Advanced Analytical R&amp;D team conducting cutting-edge analytical chemistry research and development for nourish and scent technologies to drive continued business growth at IFF.  </p> <p><br/> In this position, you will lead, plan, and execute complex technical work in the area of analytical chemistry research. You will be translating IFF R&amp;D and product development needs into new analytical methodologies by working closely with colleagues around the world. All under guidance from senior technical management.</p> <p><br/> Your daily activities include execution of laboratory bench experiments as well as bringing and developing new analytical technologies, methods and conceptual approaches to R&amp;D. Some examples of typical tasks are: </p> <ul> <li>Development of methods for biodegradation metabolite analysis using GCMS and automated l/l extraction.</li> <li>Development of methods for high throughput analytical screening for bioconversion assays on flavor or fragrance components.</li> <li>Development of methods for chemical characterization of nano-materials.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>Being at the forefront of development of nourish and scent ingredients requires a deep understanding of relevant, state-of-the art analytical tools and methods. You should therefore enjoy monitoring developments in these areas closely, and pro-actively explore and pursue new and alternative technical approaches. These can be both internally or externally oriented, and should include the automation of workflows, as well as data collection and analysis.</p> <p><br/> This position is for a Senior Scientist with significant proven skills and interests in bench-level technical work and requires in depth practical and conceptual understanding of key analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry, chromatography, and lab automation.   </p> <p><br/> You will report to the Director R&amp;D, Advanced Analytical Taste &amp; Scent.</p> <p> </p> <p>YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Conduct laboratory bench analytical research as required using chromatography and mass spectrometry-based techniques including sample preparation, data acquisition, data interpretation and data reporting.</li> <li>Development and deployment of analytical approaches and project plans</li> <li>Lead cross-functional projects of moderate size and scope.</li> <li>Development and integration of relevant automated workflows and data management</li> <li>(Time-) management of assigned tasks.</li> <li>Routinely provides expert technical consultation to IFF colleagues and customers alike.<br/>  </li> </ul> <h2>Job Requirements</h2> <ul> <li>You have a MS degree in Analytical Chemistry or a related area with at least 2 years of appropriate experience or equivalent.</li> <li>The successful candidate has demonstrated expertise in gas-/liquid-chromatography and mass spectrometry.</li> <li>The successful candidate has demonstrated experience in developing and implementing new analytical approaches.</li> <li>We will rely on your ability to lead technical projects.</li> <li>You have excellent written and oral communication skills.</li> <li>Fluent in English language.</li> <li>Basic in Dutch language.</li> </ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Fluent in Dutch language.</li> <li>The preferred candidate has experience in one of following areas: <ul> <li>flavor- fragrance industry</li> <li>food industry</li> <li>pharma industry</li> <li>consumer products industry.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Demonstrated expertise in automated sample preparation/data handling.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work with remote colleagues.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>IFF is an Equal Opportunity Employer.</p> <p><br/> At IFF, we believe that your uniqueness unleashes our potential.
