Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career, and customer-oriented Network Engineer to join our team in the Chantilly, VA area to provide unparalleled support to our customer and to begin an exciting and rewarding career within ManTech.
As a Network Engineer you will be responsible for providing network engineering support for a large distributed IT infrastructure. Evaluate, design documents, install equipment, implement, test, perform problem isolation and resolution, monitor, tune, and set standards. Maintains a complex range of computer network components and systems. Performs these functions across a wide range of network facilities to include: physical media, protocol stacks, hubs, routers, bridges, gateways, digital servers, line drivers, telecommunications transport facilities, and network management components. Provides client consulting and training on the interfacing and use of the network facilities. Plans and coordinates major computer network initiatives. Researches, evaluates, and recommends new computer network equipment and technologies. Utilizes monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems, gauge network performance, and trace data and protocol activity. Devises solutions to complex operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment. Develops and executes contingency plans for network software and hardware failures including isolated and major outages. Provides internal consulting technical guidance, information and support to application developers, computer operations, workstation support, company management and departmental clients.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Interface daily with top customer stakeholders.
•Troubleshoot complex multi-faceted physical and virtual network configurations
•Design, development, implementation, and/or integration of customer IA architecture, system, and components.
•Ensure the architecture and design of the customer’s information systems are functional and secure.
•Provide system or network designs that encompass multiple computers and networks to include those with differing data protections/classification requirements.
•Provide security engineering, integration services, technical assessments, and solutions, related to Assessment and Authorization (A&A) support activities.
•Firewall, router, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) engineering and integration support into customer baseline architecture.
•Foster cooperative relationships with mission partners and interconnected systems.
•Assist customers in understanding information security needs, defining and designing system security requirements, developing and implementing detailed security designs and measures to safeguard information, and assessing information protection effectiveness.
•Maintain awareness of security directives, orders, standards, plans and procedures.
•Manage, maintain system configuration to include documentation, installation, planning, configuration and evaluation of existing and new hardware.
•Providing enterprise level disaster recovery solutions.
•Analyze system faults, troubleshoot, and run diagnostic test on applications to detect problems.
•Develop the procedures and be capable of executing existing and developed procedures in order to maintain compliance with ICD 503 mandates and/or vendor released patches and upgrades.
•Participate in and document Change Management (CM) processes.
Position Requirements:
•BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience. Years of Experience :10+ years w/high school diploma or 4+ years with Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years w/Master’s Degree
•5+ years of experience as Network Engineer
•Experience in network engineering and administration, data protocol analysis, network security, network configuration, and provisioning clients.
•Knowledge and experience providing network infrastructure procurement, installation, configuration, and testing.
•Experience in the following areas: hardware/software security, router and switch communications protocols, network management, encryption techniques and protocols, firewall rule definition and management, intrusion detection and authentication technologies.
