The Role:
The Program Management team within Clinical Development at Moderna is responsible for driving program teams forward in developing novel mRNA medicines for a wide range of diseases and conditions to make mRNA a reality for patients. Moderna is seeking a motivated and energetic Director, Program Management to support the Infectious Disease portfolio. This role will work in close coordination with the Therapeutic Area Head, functional leadership, and program leaders to shape program strategy and drive execution plans. This may be accomplished both by individual contributions as a Program Director and through hiring, developing, and managing a Program Management team. The successful candidate will have Program Management experience across multiple phases of development and preferably in Infectious Diseases. History of direct line management of others is preferred.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
The Program Management Director of Infectious Disease will be involved in high-level supervision of the programs by:
Building, mentoring, and training a program management team to support programs, as required based on the Infectious Disease Portfolio strategy.
Building relationships with key stakeholders (team members, functional leads, therapeutic area leadership) to ensure alignment of functional, program, and Infectious Disease TA objectives; Leveraging organizational dynamics to promote program goals.
Contributing to Program Management initiatives to support the development and scaling of capabilities, tools, and processes.
Supporting the Therapeutic Area Head in initiatives to build the portfolio (e.g., facilitating committees aimed at developing the portfolio strategy).
The Program Management Director of Infectious Disease may also be involved in high-level supervision of the programs by:
Partnering with the program leader(s) to shape program strategy and execution plan.
Coordinating team efforts to develop impactful presentations to summarize complex and interdependent topics into critical points to facilitate strategic planning and decision-making,
Preparing program status updates and governance presentations to the Development Review Committee (DRC) and Executive Committee.
Developing and tracking activities against program timelines and budget.
Administering the day-to-day activities, including, facilitating cross-functional team meetings, leading discussions to drive decision-making, preparing agenda and meeting minutes, and defining and resolving action items.
Working with supporting R&D functions for end-to-end integration of program plans.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:
Proven in-depth track record of successful project management experience in drug development across multiple phases (lead nomination through post-launch); experience in Infectious Disease drug development is preferred. Prove ability to analyze, recommend and lead strategic/operational initiatives.
BA or BS degree in a scientific field with a minimum of 10 years of experience or MS degree in a scientific field with at least 8 years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting.
Formal project/program management training.
Demonstrated experience managing or working within cross-functional project teams to manage resource, timeline, budget, and risk effectively.
Prior direct-line management experience managing others.
Must be adept at working in a fluid environment and foster a strong collaborative spirit internally and externally.
Strong personal skills to influence without authority, motivate others and manage conflict.
Strong written and oral communication skills as well as demonstrated organizational aptitude.
Strong working knowledge of project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, and timeline visualization software).
